Sola Sound Tone Bender MKV

Hi there,

I recently bought a 3-knob Sola Sound Tone Bender MKV, the last of the sixties tonebenders.

It's the one in the narrow yellow box with black & red lettering and first time the fuzz "Batman"-logo appeared. Under the footswitch there's the "HIT IT" logo

Now i found two unmarked iron transistors in it but the third is a black plastic transistor model C5598 PH61. Is this a silicium transistor??? The person i bought it from never changed any components and he owes it already a long long time.

Can this transistor be original???I can try to make pics if someone wants to see it.

Does somebody haves the schematic of the MKV.

All help would be very much appreciated.

Greetings

Ronny

Could that be C559 B? That would be a low noise silicon PNP.

It is possible that it's original, mixing Ge and Si has been done before and C559B can be in the right hfe range.

A google search shows nothing for the MKV period! So pics of the pedal would be great. Good pics of the component side and the trace side of the board would allow someone to trace it and make a schem.

Hello,

Yes, it is a C559 B, not C559 8.

So this transistor is original? Great to know!

The fuzz sounds fantastic and different from all other Sola Sound/Vox Tone Benders. And we know because our rehearsalroom is full of fuzzpedals.

Any idea how rare these MK V's are? I don't want to sell it, just want to know how rare my beauty is.

Where can i send pics of the pedal?

Greetings

Ronny

Hi...

Here's a link to my online gallery of early fuzz effects (Tonebenders...)

Pedal PICS would be great for. Component side and circuit board traces side PICS will allow people to track well, so that homes Farm.
