I finished my build of the Axis Face Si rev. 3 a couple of days ago and just had a chance to give it a go at a gig last night and all i can say is WOW! This thing kicks some serious butt! I had a Fulltone '69 pedal and the Axis Face Si hands down blows it out of the water. It has a smooth fuzz that i was able to actually use. I can even use it with my TS-9 and Wah(with output buffer) and it really screams! Cheers to you on this awesome variation on the Fuzz Face-esque theme!
Glad to hear that you like it! The Axis Face Silicon Rev. 3 is my favorite fuzz...it's displaced the ToneBender Professional MKII, which used to be my favorite.
You'll have to drop a 1K reverse audio taper pot in place of the 1K linear taper "Attack" pot once Small Bear Electronics gets them in from Alpha. I have the sample of one of the 1KC pots that Steve sent me in one of mine, and it greatly improves the tweakability of the fuzz range!
Once he gets them in regular stock I'll be updating the schematic and parts list to include it as a regular part in the circuit.
I've just got in a couple AC187K's i'm going to try out in the Axis Face Ge version. See how they stack up. Now i can finally finish off my Double Axis Face pedal! I've got the Si on one side and the Ge on the other... Best of both worlds. How well do you think the AC187K's will work for the MindBender?
They should work fine in the MindBender. You'll just have to use a pair that have gains suitable for a Fuzz Face's Q1 for Q1 and Q2 in the MindBender (I like around 70 for these two). For Q3 use one that has a gain suitable for a Fuzz Face Q2 (I like around 100).
