Looks like Mouser doesn't stock the 500K CDS photocell listed for use in the 4ms Tremulus Lune project. Any suggestions on a replacement or a different source? Thanks.
The NSL-32 is a photocoupler, which is an all-in-one package of an LED and photocell. It has 4 leads...two go to the LED (and remember that the LED leads are polarized) and the other two go to the photocell (which is not polarized). If you get the NSL-32 you will not need to order the rectangular red LED from Mouser.
Thanks for the response. So I got the NSL-32 replacement, but I am confused about replacing the LED/photocoupler with this. It has 2 long leads which I believe are the photocoupler side, but how/where do I connect the short leads? To where to LED would have been? The leads are flat and not very long. It seems to be an awkward fit.
The fit on the circuit board might be a bit awkward since it was layed out for the seperate LED with a LDR pressed right up against it and some black electrical tape wrapped around them to hold them together and to keep the inside of the package dark.
I don't know why Mouser stopped stocking the CDS LDRs...I guess they didn't sell enough to keep them in stock anymore
