DS1 Distortion mod

Hello my first post. The question I have is in regards to the DS1 mod, the chip that I have in my DS1 pedal is a BA726N, now in regards to what Phillip Bryant says on the mod page this mod works with the  Mitsubishi M5223AL IC. So my question is are the chips the same replacement equivalent, can the mod still be done with this chip? I searched the internet for info on said IC's but could not find anything. any help would be appreciated thanks

I have the data sheet for the BA728N, I haven't found one for the Mitsubishi.

 Thanks Fret Wire for the response,and yes I also could not find any info on said chips.
