Sneak Peak: Axis Face Silicon Revision 3

I'm working on the Axis Face Silicon Revision 3 circuit and wanted to take a quick poll about a modification that I'm thinking about applying to the circuit.  The mod would consist of a switch that would change the value of the output capacitor.  In one position the switch would cause the circuit to have the original 0.01uF output capacitor, but in the other position the circuit would have an output capacitor value of 0.005uF.  The lower value would cause a large increase in the treble response of the circuit...giving it a very Vox ToneBender-ish flavor.

It would work like this:

Putting two 0.01uF capacitors in series like that will result in the total capacitance at the output of the circuit to be exactly one-half the value of either of the capacitors, in this case 0.005uF.  By putting a SPST on-off switch across the second capacitor like that, you will be able to switch between 0.01uF and 0.005uF.  When the switch is ON, the second 0.01uF will be bypassed, and the output capacitance will be 0.01uF.  When the switch is OFF the signal will be sent through both output capacitors and the output capacitance will be 0.005uF.

Do you guys think that the "Bite" switch would make a good addition to the circuit?

Hello Phillip--

I vote "no" on the output cap mod..........doesn't effect the sound all that much.

A good mod that I've found is putting a 100K pot in place of the 100K feedback resistor so you can dial it back down to around 30K - 47K.   This gives you much more of the TB MK I sound.  Actually, I'd probably just leave it at 47K all the time!

Brian.
