I'have made the tycobrahe octavia clone from generalguitargadget.com, with two 2n5088 and one 2n5087, I think it's like your negative ground version...
there is a lot of difference to use 2n5088 instead of 2n4401. and if I use other germanium diodes than the 1N34a (I have somes germaniums diode, but unmarked...)?
Cause I don't like the sound of my clone, it's not creamy but very agressive and synthetic, instead of the beautifull sound of hendrix...
what the change with the use of 100uF instead of 25uF?
Apparently the tychobrahe is a version of the hendrix octave that was meant to run off of 24v, and thus teh way the tychobrahe clones are produces a very aggresive sound, I have found this too with my bought tychobrahe clone.
There is a schematic over here for the roger mayer version of the octave fuzz (called the octavia, apparently this is the same ones hendrix used and is more subtle and hendrix-like): http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Library/1355/schematics.htm
Hope that helps, -Adam
