The NE5532 is a smooth, very quiet IC that works nicely in the SD-1. It's my personal favorite for the SD-1 and TS-9. There is also an inline version that works nicely in the DS-1.
Yes I've wondered of this as well. I recently got a bunch of Burr Browns and though I wanted to pick up some of them , It seemed that everyone else had completely WIPED OUT the entire stock!! So I picked up some other good candidates for Dual Opamps(and single) And If I'm not mistaken that was the problem with the 2132PA used in similar applications , is that I believe it's just a single Op amp.(?) I did get some to try. (probably in the MicroAmp projects at Tonepad.)
I think I got some OPA2277PA that sounded GREAT in both my SD-1 modified And my ROSS Distortion(more appropriate here on this forum as ; LIQUID DRIVE) clone which used dual opamps. also got OPA2777PA which is about the same . and I couldn't tell any difference between either one AND the 2134PA!! Though I could tell between the above And an NE5532. Which by itself , put against any 4558 type... stood heads above as well.
So many to choose from , to my ears that 's what I got. Anyone know of other good B.B. #'s that TI stocks I'd like to know about them since as I said , the GREEDY have wiped out all the more well known chips.
Is the BurrBrown OPA2134PA single? i thought it was a dual opamp? i also tried the opa2134P... and i think it has more gain... but i dont think TI has plans of distributing them(opa2134P) coz i think they pulled that particular unit off their site... i just have a couple of samples...
