Dunlop Fuzz Face Mod

Hi all,

I own a 90's Dunlop Fuzz Face. I'm in the process of making it a NOS 69'-70' model.

I painted it with the Hammerite Blue, found black Top Hat knobs.

I also went down to my local component shop to get two BC108's (although they didn't have BCs' they sold me transistors that they said where american equivalent. They look right and say "NPN silicone" on the package), and a .01uf capacitor. Everything else I left cuz it didn't need to be changed, so I thought. I reversed the 2.2uf and the 22uf and the battery leads.

The amount of fuzz is great! And it has a butt load of output, but the tone of it is bad. It's as if the FF is trying to take the note a octave higher. Very thin sounding too, specially when I turn my guitars volume to about 7. With my other FFs' when I turn down to 7 I get a nice overdriven full sound so that's what I'm trying to get with my mod but I can't.

Does anyone know what capacitor I can use to fix this tone problem?

Thanks in advance. I look forward to a reply.
